Service Coordination
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas offers certain services for members with special needs. We can help you find the right level of support, with the help of a Service Coordinator. These services are no cost to you.
Get the Help You Need
Our Service Coordination team works with you, your family, doctors and other providers to set up your care. They can help you find the right doctors and resources based on your medical, behavioral and cultural needs. They also work with you to make a care plan to help you reach your health goals.
Service Coordinators can help you:
- Find the right providers and set up visits with them.
- Better understand your health condition(s), medicines and treatments.
- Learn how your benefits can help improve your health.
- With guidance before planned admissions, like surgery, and after you leave the hospital.
- By listening to your health concerns and questions.
- Find community support and services. These may include programs and classes to help you improve your health.

Service Coordination Helps With:
- Medicaid-covered behavioral health services.
- Setting up non-emergency medical transportation.
- Nursing care (home health, private duty, supportive living facilities)
- Therapies (Physical, Occupational, Speech)
- Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and medical supplies
- Disease management coordination
- Personal Care Services (for example, bathing, eating, etc.)
- Caregiver support and resources
- Referrals to community resource programs. This can help with food or electric bills. Learn more about community support.
Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) for STAR Kids Members
LTSS for STAR Kids members is managed by our Service Coordination team. They will help set up acute and long-term care services for you or your child. These include private duty nursing (PDN) and personal care services (PCS). Find out more about LTSS.
Blue Access for Members℠
Blue Access for Members is the secure member portal from BCBSTX. Within this portal, you can review what your plan covers, such as:
- Medical benefits
- Prescriptions
- Your care team
- Your care plan
- Health risk screenings
You also can find out about Service Coordination in the My Health > Wellness area.
For STAR Kids members, you can:
- Find information about your child's assigned Service Coordinator, including their name, phone number, and email address. (Note: You will also get your Service Coordinator's name and phone number in the mail.)
- Check your child’s most recent Screening and Assessment Instrument (SAI) or Individual Service Plan (ISP). and the .

How to Get Other Services
Do you want to know more about BCBSTX covered programs and services? Do you need help finding a specialist, substance abuse services, or an OB/GYN provider? Call Service Coordination or the Customer Advocate Department for your plan. They are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. You may also leave a voicemail outside of our normal business hours or on weekends and holidays.
