Special Needs Support

A personal Health Advocate is included in your medical plan with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. It’s like having your own personal health assistant who can answer your questions and get you the help you need.

Autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a condition that affects the way children behave and their ability to communicate. Children with ASD tend to act differently than other children. Parents are often the first to notice the signs. Early treatment may reduce symptoms and help your child reach their full potential.

You have access to experienced behavioral health case management clinicians and social workers that focus on autism to support you and your family members with the best plan and course of ASD treatment. Your case manager and social worker can also refer you to other resources and programs outside of your coverage for additional support.

Health Advocates can also help with:

  • Dyslexia
  • Downs syndrome
  • Tourette’s syndrome
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder and other neurodiversity conditions

A personal Health Advocate is part of your plan. Call 1-877-278-5214, 24/7, excluding major holidays, for your health and benefit needs.

Call 911 for medical emergencies. Nurse Health Advocates do not give medical advice or take the place of a doctor’s care. Talk to your doctor or health care professional about any health questions or concerns.
