Health Advocates

A personal Health Advocate is included in your medical plan with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. It’s like having your own personal health assistant who can answer your questions and get you the help you need.

Your Health Advocate can also connect you to a Nurse Health Advocate.  Nurse Health Advocates and our other care team members can help you and your covered family members with:

  • Cancer - Work with a nurse who specializes in cancer to better understand your treatment plan and get help dealing with the complexities of cancer care.
  • Caregiver Support - Stay healthy and get the help you need when caring for loved ones.
  • Diabetes - Better manage your condition by working with a nurse who specializes in diabetes. Our diabetes program is approved by the American Diabetes Association.
  • Emotional and Mental Health - Learn about all the services available to help with depression, stress, and more.
  • End-of-Life Planning - Get support for you or your loved ones in planning for end-of-life.
  • Gender Identity Support - Get guidance on health care and benefits for gender identity support.
  • Nutrition - Learn how to develop better eating habits with the help of a registered dietitian.
  • Overcome Obstacles - Get support to find healthy food, get prescriptions, get transportation to doctor appointments and more by working with a social worker.

A personal Health Advocate is part of your plan. Call 1-877-278-5214, 24/7, excluding major holidays, for your health and benefit needs.

Call 911 for medical emergencies. Nurse Health Advocates do not give medical advice or take the place of a doctor’s care. Talk to your doctor or health care professional about any health questions or concerns.
