Negotiation with Shannon Medical Center
We’re in active negotiations with Shannon Medical Center. The current contracts were set to expire on May 17, 2025, but we’ve extended them to May 23, 2025. We’re working hard to reach an agreement, but if we don’t, Shannon Medical Center and Shannon Medical Center South Campus in San Angelo will no longer be in our networks.
We have a long and positive relationship with Shannon Medical Center, but you are our priority. We want to reach an agreement that will continue to give you access to Shannon Medical Center hospitals at fair prices.
Even if Shannon Medical Center leaves our networks, you’ll continue to have access to in-network hospitals and facilities. Check for options based on your plan by logging in to Blue Access for Members℠. If you don’t have access to BAM, go to the website on the back of your member ID card. You can also call the number on your member ID card.
Why It Matters
If we can’t reach an agreement, Shannon Medical Center and Shannon Medical Center South Campus in San Angelo will no longer be in these provider networks as of May 23, 2025:
- Traditional
- Blue Choice PPOSM
- Blue EssentialsSM
- Blue Advantage HMOSM
Shannon hospitals will still participate in our Medicare Advantage networks.

In the case of a life-threatening illness or injury, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency facility right away. Emergency services for commercial networks are covered at the in-network benefit level.
