What is defined as an Emergency Disaster:
An event of a Presidential emergency declaration, a Presidential (major) disaster declaration, a declaration of emergency or disaster by a Governor, or an announcement of a public health emergency by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, but absent of a 1135 Waiver by the Secretary.
Emergency Disasters include the following:
- Freezing Weather
- Power Outages
- Tornadoes and Severe Storms
- Hurricanes and Tropical Storms
- Floods
- Wildfires
- Earthquakes
- Drought
- Incidents of Mass Violence
What providers need to do:
In case of an emergency or disaster, reach out to your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Medicaid Network Team at 1-855-212-1615 or submit by email to Texas Medicaid Network Department.
A network representative will respond within 2 hours.
