Negotiation with Southwestern Health Resources
In April 2025 we finalized new contracts with Southwestern Health Resources in North Texas. The negotiation keeps SWHR − including Texas Health Resources and UT Southwestern health care professionals, facilities and hospitals − in most of our networks for several more years.
However, as part of the resolution, SWHR decided to leave our Blue Advantage HMOSM network as of Jan. 1, 2026.
Members with a Blue Advantage HMO plan will continue to have in-network access to SWHR through the remainder of 2025.

SWHR remains in these networks:
- ParPlan
- Blue Choice PPOSM
- Blue EssentialsSM
- MyBlue HealthSM
- Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO)SM
- Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (HMO)SM
- Medicaid
Finding in-network care
To find quality, cost-effective in-network care, members with a Blue Advantage HMO plan can:
- Visit bcbstx.com and select Find Care, or visit your online provider directory
- Log in to or sign up for your member account online or through the BCBSTX App
- Call the number on your member ID card
Primary care
Members with a Blue Advantage HMO plan who have an SWHR primary care provider have two options for 2026:
- Select a new PCP who is not affiliated with SWHR, or
- Select another plan option during your open enrollment to maintain an in-network relationship with these providers.
