In 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) developed marketing guidelines to ensure that Medicare eligible beneficiaries receive the most accurate and complete information available. Before you can sell Blue MedicareRx, the CMS requires that you obtain Medicare Part D certification. According to CMS: 

• BCBSTX must make certain that all producers are state certified to sell Blue MedicareRx and that producers who are not certified will not receive commissions for sales of Blue MedicareRx
• BCBSTX must supply and expect our contracted entities (such as producers) to only use marketing materials that have been submitted to and approved by the Centers for Medicare Services

To become certified to sell Blue MedicareRx each year you must take the following steps after logging into KnowledgeWire (New Information Coming Soon).

1. Complete the pre course form
2. Complete KnowledgeWire Web-based training (New Information Coming Soon)
3. Review the HISC Medicare Compliance Program and complete the Medicare Part D Certification
4. Electronically sign the HISC Medicare amendment (if applicable)
