BlueExtrasSM – more ways to save money
Through the BlueExtras discount program, virtually all Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) policyholders can save money on value-added health care products and services. These discounts are for products and services not usually covered by your health insurance plan. There are usually no claims to file, no referrals and no pre-authorizations. And there is no additional fee to participate – it’s just one more benefit of being a BCBSTX policyholder.

Current Discounts:
Vision Discount Program: Davis Vision
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas policyholders are eligible for discounts on routine exams, lenses, frames, contact lenses, and mail order contact lens replacement (LENS 123). They also have access to a network of participating providers offering discounts on laser vision correction.
The Davis Vision network provides access to a national network of both independent and retail locations. This can give you the convenience to obtain vision services in locations such as Wal-Mart and EyeMasters.
Policyholders can obtain services by simply presenting their BCBSTX ID card to a Davis Vision provider. Their providers will usually recognize BCBSTX ID cards.
Hearing Aid Discount Program: TruHearing
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas policyholders can save on digital hearing aids through TruHearing. They can have their hearing tested for free when performed for the purpose of fitting a hearing aid by a licensed hearing specialist. And policyholders have a five-day money back guarantee, a two-year warranty and a selection of hearing aid styles at various price levels.
Weight Management Discount Programs: Jenny Craig and Curves
Jenny Craig and Curves offer BCBSTX policyholders discounted fees to join. Regular monthly fees still apply and franchisee participation may vary.

Curves
Curves offers a 30-minute workout that combines strength training and sustained cardiovascular activity through safe and effective resistance equipment.
Complementary Alternative Medicine Discount Program: Healthways
Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) includes a variety of therapies that may help to promote wellness, prevent illness and address existing symptoms and conditions.
BCBSTX policyholders are eligible to receive discounts off certain CAM services such as yoga, Pilates, massage, acupuncture, Tai Chi, nutritional counseling, spas, fitness club memberships and more. Discounts are also available for vitamins and herbal supplements, as well as health and wellness magazines.
