The BlueCard® Program

Traveling across the country or around the world? Our unique BlueCard Program helps Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) members access contracting doctors and hospitals across the nation and around the world.*

BlueCard is a national program that enables members to obtain health care services when traveling or living outside their Blue Plan service area. When BCBSTX members travel or live away from home for an extended period of time, they'll have the same benefits as their BCBSTX Plan. More than 90 percent of all hospitals and 80 percent of doctors in the United States contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) Plans. Outside the United States, members have access to doctors and hospitals in more than 200 countries and territories around the world through the BlueCard Worldwide® Program.

Advantages of BlueCard

  • Easy access to contracting providers.
The BlueCard Program provides access to one of the largest networks of contracting providers in America.
  • Usually no paperwork or claims to file.
When visiting a network provider, all you need to do is show your ID card.
