As part of BlueCare Dental Connection^SM (BCDC), certain members with dental coverage are sent educational mailings. Members will begin receiving this year's mailing in mid-June.

BCDC, an integrated medical-dental and preventive outreach program that compares individuals' medical and dental data, was launched in 2008 to reach out to members considered to be high risk, or already diagnosed with certain conditions.

This proactive medical-dental wellness program sends mailings to these members to help educate them about potential risks, as well as provide preventive steps they can take to help maintain or improve their oral – and overall – health. Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the only carrier with a proactive preventive dental component to their program – we mail to some members, including parents with young children, before they even get cavities. The ultimate goal of this program is to improve health outcomes and reduce overall costs for both the member and employer.
