Drug Lists

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas prescription drug lists consist of (1) alphabetical list of preferred drugs, (2) preferred list by therapeutic class, (3) Most Commonly Prescribed list of preferred drugs, and (4) drugs with dispensing limits – specific quantity limits are specified.

In most cases, generic drugs – whether included on this list or not – are available at the lowest copayment. Brand name drugs are available at the middle copayment. Non-preferred brand name drugs require the highest copayment.
