The BlueChoice^® managed care program provides employers having more than 50 employees with health coverage through a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). A PPO is a network of providers who have contracted with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas to provide health care services at negotiated rates. Members can access a full range of health care services within the BlueChoice provider network or use ParPlan (physicians and other health professionals) and other out-of-network providers at a reduced benefit level.

Under the BlueChoice program, members must use network providers to receive the highest (network) level of benefits. BlueChoice Network
The BlueChoice network, one of the largest in Texas, is comprised of more than 500 hospitals and almost 35,000 physicians in all 254 Texas counties. Contracting providers agree to file claims, arrange necessary preauthorizations, and hold members harmless for charges deemed not medically necessary by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
