Blue Cross Recognizes Employee as 2012 Volunteer of the Year for Enthusiastic Service to Non-profit Organizations
Richardson, TX — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) announced today that Christy Zegub, a senior systems security specialist at BCBSTX has been named the company's Volunteer of the Year. Our 2012 Employee Volunteer of the Year has supported numerous charitable initiatives such as Anti-Bullying Campaigns, @SpecialOlympicsTexas, @EquestTherapeuticHorsemanship, @LoneStarRideFightingAIDS, @JuniorLeagueofDallas,Inc. and the @TempleBethTorah - Humble, Texas and logged more than 233 volunteer hours in our Blue Corps volunteer program!
The Volunteer of the Year award was first introduced in 2010 as part of BCBSTX's ongoing effort to give back to the community and provide well-earned recognition to encourage volunteerism. Each year, the award is given to one person who captures the "spirit of giving back to the community." The award celebrates the dedication and community service of BCBSTX volunteers, and gives BCBSTX employees the opportunity to nominate fellow employees who go the extra mile to help others.

In honor of this annual recognition, Christy was awarded a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit organization of her choice. Christy has chosen to give her $1,000 grant to the nonprofit organization, Alley's House, whose mission is to empower teen mothers and their children to achieve independence.
