Blue Cross And Blue Shield of Texas' Volunteer Of The Year Makes A Difference With DFW Neglected Children
DALLAS, TX. — As part of its on-going effort to give back to the community, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is giving well-earned recognition to encourage volunteerism. The "Volunteer of the Year Award" is given to one person who captures the spirit of "giving back." BCBSTX employees have volunteered 8,860 hours so far this year, however, Julie Klutts went above and beyond with her work for neglected children.
"We are proud to recognize Julie as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ first Volunteer of the Year," said, BCBSTX President, Darren Rodgers. "The commitment and energy she brings to helping others is a perfect example of corporate citizenship, which is a core value of our company."
BCBSTX employees may nominate fellow employees for the Volunteer of the Year. Klutts, an executive administrative assistant, is a deserving candidate for her involvement with the Texas Care Van Program, her church and Lone Star CASA -- an organization that consists of court-appointed special advocates who help ensure that neglected children are placed in safe homes. Over the years, she has been instrumental in recruiting new volunteers for the Care Van Program and ensuring immunization clinics were adequately staffed. Julie also was named CASA Volunteer of the Year in 2009.
In honor of the award, BCBTX donated $1,000 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in Klutts’ name.
